Established during the Bunsei era (1818 - 1830) of the Edo period. The first generation Tozan was a master craftsman of kyusu teapots, who built a high reputation with his teapots and wheel-turning skills in the Meiji period. In the past, craftsmen were proud of making things and had a sense of fun at the same time. I feel it in the kyusu teapots made 60 years ago. Today, the current Tozan is the fifth generation, but the spirit of craftsmanship has been handed down and they work hard every day as a dedicated kyusu teapot producer. I would like to continue making new kyusu teapots while respecting tradition and thinking about designs that are suitable for today's lifestyle. This design represents the traditional Banko kyusu teapots made from high quality potter's clay called "Shidei" (literally "purple mud"). In pursuit of easier use and better design, new kyusu teapots that attract the younger generation will be introduced.
